Background History
Disneyland was founded by Walt Disney. Walt Disney had envision a place where children and parents could have fun together, therefore creating the idea of a "magical park". The more he had envision it this way, the more imaginative and elaborate it had became. Walt's original plans for the park was for it to be 8 acres next to an area in which his employees and families could go to relax. At the time though, World War II had put his plans on hold. During the time, Walt came up with new ideas and creations for his magical park, realizing that 8 acres wouldn't be enough.
Construction for Disneyland began on July 21, 1954, which was about 12 months before it was scheduled to open its doors to the public. To make more room for the park, they had removed about 160 acres of citrus trees and about 15 houses. Walt's "magical little park" was in truth a $17,000,000 "Magic Kingdom" when described by employees. With a complete success, Walt's dreams had come true and Disneyland was ready to be opened. Opening day was one of the most important days to remember. About six thousand invitations for the Grand Opening of Disneyland were mailed. By mid afternoon, over 28,000 ticket holders were off to see the magical kingdom that Walt had presented. Most of the tickets that those people had used were counterfeit.
